Required from everyone
The same five items, whichever route you take.
✓Trade name. Three options, in order of preference. Three because the first is often already registered or falls foul of the naming rules.
✓Passport copy. Full spread, clear, valid for at least one month.
✓Contact details. Email address and mobile number for every shareholder.
✓Residence address. Full address, UAE or home country.
✓Products and services. The specific activities to be listed on the license. Be precise here, as it determines what you are permitted to do.

✓Signature page. Where it sits outside the main spread.
✓Details page. Any page showing information not printed on the main spread.

If you are already a UAE resident
✓Residence visa, visit visa or entry stamp. A copy of whichever applies.
✓Emirates ID. Both sides.
✓UID, entry stamp or visit visa copy. For every shareholder.
Pre-approval from abroad
Pre-approval, immigration file opening and eChannel registration can now be done from inside or outside the UAE, provided you hold a valid residence visa, tourist visa or active entry permit.
FREE ZONE
What the free zone adds
One extra document on top of the shared list, and only where the zone asks for it.
✓Proof of address. Any one of: EJARI or a UAE utility bill, a utility bill from your home country, or a national ID showing your address and its expiry date.
